Dr. Alan Mason has served Temple Israel of Greater Miami and South Florida’s Jewish community for the past quarter century. As Director of Music at Temple Israel, Alan has provided the musical direction and piano accompaniment at more than 1500 Shabbat and High Holy Day services. Since 1991, rabbis and cantors of all denominations and from all over the world have benefitted from Dr. Mason’s extraordinary musical talent and direction. Five of Alan’s piano accompaniments have been published by Transcontinental Music.

Alan is the Program Director of the Winter Jewish Music Concert, one of the nation’s leading Jewish music concerts, and is currently President of the Guild of Temple Musicians.

Frequently performing Jewish music throughout the United States and around the world, Dr. Mason was selected to perform as accompanist for Shabbat services at the last ve national biennial conventions of the Union for Reform Judaism. For the last fifteen years, he has been an accompanist at the North American Jewish Choral Festival. Alan has twice performed at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. in concerts presented by Pro Musica Hebraica, and at the White House under the George W. Bush administration.

Internationally, Dr. Mason has performed Jewish music at Rome’s Basilica Santa Maria degli Angeli e dei Martiri, Mikve Israel-Emanuel Synagogue in Curacao, England’s Limmud Conference, a music festival in Sofia, Bulgaria, Paris’ Notre Dame, and various venues throughout Israel.

Alan has also performed secular music with the New World Symphony and the Florida Philharmonic Chorus, and accompanied the classical voice competition of YoungArts of the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts. He has performed at both Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall in New York. From 1996 until 2014, Alan was Assistant and then Associate Professor of Music at Barry University in Miami.
